2.16.10 American Idol Episode Review – Season 9 Episode 11, Part 3
For the 71 contestants remaining in the Hollywood round the competition on American Idol this week was intense and the nerves were at an all-time high. The Hollywood round always brings the best and the worst out of the contestants. Some rise to the occasion while others fold under the pressure. The potential idols were separated into three different rooms and awaited their fates.
Aside from the first half of the episode seeming like a Jason Mraz and Michael Jackson concert the show delivered the intense moments that the Hollywood round has been famous for. Rooms one and three were given good news while room two was sent packing. Among the contestants in room two were the argumentative rocker chick Mary Powers and the bald cop with soul Brian Walker.
So after the jubilation felt by the 46 people who did make it through, it was right back to waiting as Simon and company were ready to cut it down to the top 12 guys and 12 girls. First up was Big Mike Lynch whose wife had just had a baby. Well, Big Mike got more good news as he was the first to be sent into the top 12. One of the casualties who did not make it was returning contestant Jessica Furney who provided us with one of the classic Idol meltdowns as she argued with the judges and showed us how damaging the forces of denial and lack of self-responsibility can be in someone’s life.
The top 24 revealed so far include Big Mike Lynch, Didi Benami, Katelyn Epperly, Casey James, Aaron Kelly, Lee Dewyze, and Todrick Hall. Don’t miss the next episode as the rest of the top 24 will be chosen.
